I am always coming up with new ideas to make our PD sessions just a little bit more interesting and of course fun because technology PD should be fun! I've designed some choose your own adventure activities, check list activities, ITSCO Bingo, and now ITSCO Shark Tank. Yes, ITSCO Shark Tank!
I tried it out today at a training I did and it was amazing! The participants had so much fun and they were learning how to use the Google Apps products as well as getting some ideas for how to use this in their classroom. Basically the way ITSCO Shark Tank works is that participants get into groups of 5 or 6 and come up with a restaurant idea. Their restaurant needs a Name, a Logo (Google Drawing), a menu (Google Doc), a online order form (Google Forms), a map for location (Google Maps), and monthly budget (Google Sheets). All of this needs to be compiled into a Google Slide presentation that they then share with the rest of the participants. This is done in a shared Google Doc where each participant can go in and vote for one restaurant. One of my groups today (my winners) The Wounded Ducks even somehow pulled out a duck call that they used to convince the other participants to vote for them.
It was so exciting to see all these teachers having fun and more importantly learning something!
