In this project students track the migration of monarch butterflies as they travel to Mexico for the winter and then head back north in the spring. Two fourth grade teachers decided to team up and the three of us along with 50 - 60 students are heading on a Journey North. Students participating in this project were given the task of deciding how our school's land lab could better support the monarch habitat. Each week students will take a trip to the school's land lab in search of monarch evidence. Students are not only looking for evidence that monarchs have been in the area, but they are also working to find ways to better support the monarchs. Students have seen quite a bit on their journeys to the land lab so be sure to check out the photo gallery on the Journey North page I made for this project!
