Travel The World With Google
Travel the World with Google was a cross curricular project where students were able to "view" landforms not possible from the physical classroom. Students worked collaboratively to develop skills using various web tools. Content focus was on landforms with activities centered around The Common Core Language Arts Standards. During the 2-3 week project, students read non-fiction articles, summarized information for blogging, created interactive venn diagrams, wrote digital postcards, created fotobabbles, and voki's. Although the main focus of this project was Google Maps the added pieces such as blogging and digital postcards were what made this project such a success in all curricular areas. I leave this project up on the website as a guide for projects you may want to implement in your classroom. At the time of this project, we were in the process of implementing GAFE and had not set up student accounts yet. Each student working on this project was added as a collaborator in order to add and edit the map. We also were a Discovery Education - United Streaming school and chose to use those videos, articles, and pictures for our students research. Visitors to this project are unable to view those items without a Discovery log in however with a Google account you can visit the map to see what landforms were visited by students and what landforms were created by students.
